6 SHEARMAN & STERLING FINTECH SALON SERIES Shearman's FinTech Salons are a series of events we hold to help engage the community in prevalent discussions and where we can help foster connections to thought leaders in the industry. Below is a sample of some of our recent events: Building a Data Business Seminar Monday, October 7 – London Shearman & Sterling hosted a breakfast seminar to discuss the process of building a data business. Among other things, topics discussed included business structure, data sourcing and protection, regulatory factors, data customer contracts, intellectual property considerations and tax considerations. Demo Day Tuesday, October 15 – New York Shearman & Sterling, in partnership with Empire Startups, hosted an interactive showcase with live demos from cutting-edge FinTech companies in New York. Delegates were able to meet the startups working to disrupt payments, WealthTech, accounting and more. U.S. Market Entry Guide Launch Event Tuesday, October 22 – Washington, DC In collaboration with the U.K. Department for International Trade and HM Treasury, Shearman & Sterling launched a U.S. market entry guide, titled "Entering the U.S. Market: A Guide for FinTech Firms."
