Investor Pushback Leveraged Finance Trends 44 Is it real? • The market headwinds of 2022 saw an increased expectation of investor pushback in the European HY and loan markets in respect of covenants and other documentation terms. • However, despite the precipitous decline in volume, there has not been a significant shift to more lender- friendly covenants and other documentation terms. • Strong credits continue to see borrower-friendly documentation terms and new borrower-friendly terms have been recently clearing the market. • In general, documentation tightening has largely been reserved for weaker credits, with a marked rise in lender pushback for these types of credits in 2022.
